We are very excited about this vintage expression of Joy! It is vintage 2006, aged fifteen years en tirage and produced exclusively in magnum. This is a remarkable bubbly that offers complex depths of estate grown, Green Valley fruit with luscious richness gained from long aging on the lees. Made for celebrations. 97 Points, Wine Enthusiast Magazine

“97 Points. Enticing aromas of freshly baked bread and toasted baguette lead to lemon, crisp apple and hints of almond and smoky truffles on the palate. The flavors are subtle, the fizz is fine textured and the overall expression shows wonderful maturity and complexity. This rare, recently disgorged wine made from predominantly Chardonnay will drink best through 2030.” Cellar Selection.
“94 Points. Powerfully fresh after 15 years in magnum on the lees, this Chardonnay is hazelnut-blond, its apple-scented acidity infusing the flavors of just-cracked-open nuts, the energy in its fine bubbles carrying a spicy briskness. Made and disgorged by David Munksgard, this vintage reserve is one of the best releases of Joy! we’ve tasted.” – Joshua Greene
“Top rating for bubbly at the Wine & Spirits Top 100 Tasting: Sparkling Wines With a Score Between 9 and 9.5. Yeasty, brioche, lemon, fine bubbles.”
“This is our favorite wine to celebrate something special!”
TASTING NOTES
Warming aromas of lemon curd, shortbread, roasted nuts, and orange peel on the nose. Delicate and refreshing, Joy! has a light finish that calls for another sip. Tiny bubbles create creamy effervescence, and honeycomb and ripe white grapefruit flavors.
VINEYARD NOTES
Location. Location. Location. Our proximity to the ocean in cool, foggy Green Valley yields a very distinctive style of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, especially for Sparkling.
WINEMAKER NOTES
What was once shy now exhibits wonderful complexity and creaminess that comes from 15 plus years of aging on the yeast. The dosage for this wine is 6 ml Brut LEX, 6 ml BDB LEX, 8 ml 2018 Rued Clone Chardonnay.
Lighter than air, puffed up high and golden brown, it’s center still soft and molten, this is a swoon worthy dish to pair with Joy!
