Sparkling WinesIron Horse Sparkling Wines have been served at the White House for four consecutive presidential administrations, beginning with the Reagan-Gorbachev Summit Meeting in Geneva on November 20, 1985, which led to the end of the Cold War. Wine & Spirits Magazine has named Iron Horse Sparkling Winery of the Year seven times. Robert Parker says, "These impressive Sparkling Wines...possess more texture and flavor than just about any sparkler I have tasted from California." All Iron Horse Sparklings are estate bottled and vintage, in every sense of the word.
1996 Blanc de Blancs LD Still WinesHalf of Iron Horse's production is in still wines made from both the "home vineyard" in cool climate Green Valley where the winery stands and where the family resides, and from the T-bar-T vineyard in the northeast foothills of the Alexander Valley, which on any given day can be ten degrees warmer. Pinot Noir is our rising star. At Iron Horse proper, we have an unusual, fine, sandy soil type called Gold Ridge, which is coveted for its excellent drainage and its extraordinary mineral balance, which directly contributes to wine quality. It is part of the reason why our Chardonnays are so bright and distinctive and why our Pinot Noirs have a particular berry flavor - kind of a cross between black raspberries and very mature strawberries, and a characteristic, underlying layer of earthiness.
