The Rued Clone is a special variety of Chardonnay, which matches perfectly with Green Valley’s cool, foggy climate and highly prized Gold Ridge soil, resulting in an exotic, floral yet crisp, mouthwatering wine with a pronounced stone fruit aroma.
“We sucked down the 2020 Rued Clone Chardonnay! It was so so good… still thinking about it!”
TASTING NOTES
By nose, honeysuckle, apple blossom, rose hips, grapefruit, peach and spice. By mouth, gentle and balanced, muscat, red apple and peach. Bright acidity and elegance.
VINEYARD NOTES
This is a high-toned wine from a single vineyard block on the estate and a singular clone that is uniquely suited to our cool, foggy climate. The yields in 2017 were sadly on the low side.
WINEMAKER NOTES
All of the Rued Clone grapes had at least two hours of skin contact in the press and were fermented in small, water bent, French oak barrels. Frequent lees stirring or ’batonnage’, at least three times a week for over seven months contributes to the full and creamy mouth-feel.
