By nose: Green apple, dried apricot, and honeysuckle. By mouth: Citrus notes and stone fruit. Sip our 2014 Brut X on its own, or try it with oysters, shrimp cocktail, Greek salad, curry chicken salad and grilled vegetables.
2014 was a bountiful vintage with an early start date – August 8th beginning with Pinot Noir for Sparkling. It was our driest year in California history, but the growing season itself was nicely paced and allowed for a leisurely harvest.
The composition of the dosage, or finishing element, for the 2014 Brut X is 2 mL Brut LEX, 5 mL bottled brut, 5 mL 2017 Rued Chardonnay, 5 mL 2014 Estate Pinot Noir, 4 mL 1983 Brut. But very, very little added sugar, making this an “ultra dry” with almost a cult following.
