2000 T-bar-T Sangiovese
Another special niche for Iron Horse, made from five acres planted at T-bar-T in the Alexander Valley in 1988 after a romantic trip to Tuscany. This vintage is blended with 10% Merlot, also from T-bar-T. It is intensely fruity and silky.
Made for uncomplicated, uncontrived, simply delicious country food - mama's cooking - like hand-made pastas, lamb and white beans, a juicy Florentine steak with braised fennel, spinach and cannellini beans. Sangiovese is naturally "at home" with Pecorino and caciotta cheese.
The previous vintage received 3 stars in the San Francisco Chronicle.
Total production: 1,400 cases.
